Kinship House is a children's home and a shining example of successful child uplifting initiative. Its mission is to serve the needs of poor orphaned and the less fortunate children and to equip them with the skills, knowledge, and opportunity to grow up and lead a normal life as responsible citizens.
Among other things Kinship House provides basic needs of shelter, food, love and security; schooling and medical care; training in home economics, woodwork and agricultural skills; recreating.
We need all kinds of volunteers, singles, couples and students. No qualifications are needed, just a love for children and the spirit of being kind and kin to the kinless.
At Kinship House there are a number of activities that need volunteer assistance: - Childcare, teaching skills as organic farming, carpentry, drawing, cooking, sewing, musical instruments etc. - Teaching in nearby schools were our children go. - Help children stay clean by helping them in brushing their teeth, shower and personal hygiene. - Help kids do their homework. - Monitor academic progress and make sure children complete daily homework. - Help with cleaning, cooking, gardening, mostly when children have gone to school. - Visiting children who live with guardians and do no not reside at Kinship House. - Help children improve their English skills. - Fundraising ideas and sponsorship drives for the children. - Painting, construction work, repairs. - Sports initiatives like football, table tennis, games, netball etcs - Recreational initiatives such as songs, outings, games, teaching dance and songs, girls and boys scouting, christian values etc.
Volunteers are our next of kin and any new ideas or projects and their implementation for the up lifting of the African child and Kinship House are most welcome.
The maximum amount of time a volunteer can stay is three months or less. We do have a volunteers' house were volunteers can stay. We charge a low fee for the two basic meals and upkeep.
