House sitting the S E Coast of Australia

by Corrie Wright
(Peregian Beach Qld)

Hi Adventurous women, I'm only a beginner at this game. However, I started house sitting three years ago and still loving it. So my backpack is my car, it's the biggest suitcase I own, lol
and most of my sits these days are returns or friends.

When I started out though, it was through an internet site. Now
I get home owners contacting me and then planning their holidays around my available dates .........

I am in my mid sixties, love animals, gardening and travel, so house sitting gives me all of these without being tied to one place.

My sits take me to a range of places, from the hub of Noosa, to
small farming communities in Qld, NSW and Victoria, a commune in Nimbin, an apartment at Balmain. Caring and sharing with dogs, cats, horses, cows, birds, guinea pigs, fish.

In 2012 I plan to extend my sits overseas and combine them with volunteer work. In the mean time I'm enjoying your stories
and becoming more inspired and encouraged to continue along my own road.

Cheers, Corrie

It's a great idea!

I love the house-sitting approach to travel. It's a great way to see the world, especially by staying put in one place for a bit. You can get to know a village or city through its own eyes and rhythm.

Have a look at my page on how to become a housesitter for a few more ideas on this kind of travel.

I've got a friend (from Australia, coincidentally) who watched my house last year as I traveled to Vancouver Island for a month and it worked beautifully. Another friend will do the same for me when I travel again later this year. I can't recommend this kind of travel enough - and it's easy on your budget too.
