Although none of us brothers are going to be women on the road, I found your site in preparation of my own trip, I searched for packing lists. My medical kit will probably be a bit less extensive. But this link was helpful.

I am flying out to Pamplona with my brother Noah (I am 24, he is 13) and Ian will meet us around Leon (he's 22) a couple weeks in. Noah and i leave in less than a week!

We're looking forward to the Pilgrimage. My mom set up a blog to record her experience as a mother who is not going on the trip but sending her sons. But she set it up so we can log on and contribute when we find internet access.

My name is Seamus which is Irish for James, so that is how we found out about Santiago De Compostela. Ian also translates to John, and James and John the apostles were brothers. So its pretty cool stuff for our family.

Thanks again for the helpful website!

Holy Year on the Camino
by: Sil

Go for it boys - you are going to have a great time! Last year 12,303 pilgrims between 13 and 18 got the Compostela. This year is a Jacobean Holy Year and the camino is crowded, very busy. You might find accommodation a bit of a bun fight - pilgrims are already getting up at 4am in a rush for beds! The closer you get to Santiago, the worse it gets so be prepared to sleep on the floor in Sports Halls and tent towns. 28,787 pilgrims earned the Compostela in May. This year is more of a celebration than a meditation so have fun and make your Mom proud!

NOT Women on the Road...

I love you're Mom's initiative - what a nice twist to sharing your pilgrimage! And by the way, I'll let you in on a secret... you're not the only non-women on the road who sneak a peek at my site! ;-)
